Lower Sacramento River
The Lower Sacramento River delivered excellent conditions for a productive mid-morning session. Water levels were steady and clear, with temperatures holding around the mid-50s—ideal for a strong trout bite. Cloud cover early on provided just the right amount of diffused light, creating perfect conditions for nymphing and swinging small streamers.
Fishing kicked off strong around 7:30 AM with multiple hook-ups within the first hour. The team at Trout OPS focused on deep runs and soft seams using indicator rigs with rubberlegs and caddis pupae patterns, as well as some success on small mayfly imitations. Rainbows in the 14”–18” range were the most common catch, with a few pushing past the 20” mark. Fish were active and healthy, with strong fights all morning.
By 10:00 AM, the bite slowed slightly but remained consistent enough to keep rods bent. Switching to a double nymph setup and adjusting depth proved to be the key to maintaining success into the late morning hours. The last fish came to the net just before wrapping up at 11:30 AM.
