About

Learn more about Chris Chandler, the rest of the Trout OPS team, and why we do what we do!

Chris Chandler stands proud with his Clackacraft and tow rig at the Mokelumne River Put in

Chris Chandler is an Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Guide, military and law enforcement veteran, and owner of Trout OPS. His passion for fly fishing began on the rivers of Northern California, where years spent exploring the water with friends, family, and fellow veterans revealed that fly fishing offers far more than the pursuit of fish. It creates opportunities for connection, personal growth, and time away from the demands of everyday life.

A defining moment came after a steelhead trip on the Trinity River when a close friend and combat veteran reflected that, for the first time in days, he hadn't thought about the challenges he carried with him. Chris recognized the unique power of time spent on the water and the positive impact it could have on others.

Today, Chris combines his love of teaching, service, and fly fishing to create memorable experiences for anglers of all skill levels. In addition to guiding throughout Northern California, he serves as a lead volunteer and trip coordinator with Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, helping veterans discover the camaraderie, purpose, and restoration that fly fishing can provide.

Whether introducing someone to their first trout or helping an experienced angler pursue a lifelong goal, Chris is dedicated to helping guests create lasting memories and meaningful connections on the water.
